Rangers Fall in First Road Game of the Season

ARKADELPHIA, ARKANSAS - Northwestern Oklahoma State football dropped Saturday's road game 66-0 to #8 Ouachita Baptist. The Tigers jumped out early in the first quarter and led the rest of the way.

Wilson Cal led the Rangers in tackles with eight on the evening followed by Antoine Martin finished with 7 and a fumble recovery. Travis Romar led the Rangers in receiving yards with 38 on the day.

The Tigers got off to a fast start in this one after forcing the Rangers to a three and out. This led to a 14 yard rushing touchdown to close out a three play 47 yard drive. This was the first of five first quarter touchdowns for the home team. Riley Harms later completed a 14 yard passing touchdown for his first of the day to go up 14-0. The biggest play of the quarter came on the Tigers third touchdown as Harms connected with Chris Hightower for a 63 yard touchdown.  Ouachita led 35-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Ouachita Baptist was able to add to their lead in the second quarter striking on a 36 yard touchdown pass completed from Harms to Hank Hatfiel to take a 42-0 lead. Later in the quarter Ouachita connected on an 18 yard field goal by Gabe Goodman for a 45-0 lead. That would be the score heading into halftime.

In the third quarter Ouachita added to their lead nine minutes into the third quarter as Chris Henley ran it in for an 11 yard rushing touchdown to take a 52-0 lead which would be the end of the third quarter score.

After eight minutes of scoreless football in the fourth quarter the Tigers were able to extend their lead at the 7:36 mark with a rushing touchdown to the left by Lyric Tredwell for a 59-0 lead. The Tigers struck one more time on a 34 yard rushing touchdown to take a 66-0 lead over the Rangers. This would be the game's final score.

Next up for the Rangers is returning home on Saturday for a matchup against Southern Nazarene on September 16th with kickoff set for 6:00 PM.
