Box Score WEATHERFORD, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State traveled to Weatherford, Oklahoma for the rivalry game against Southwestern Oklahoma State. After a fast start for the Bulldogs jumping out to 14-0 lead over the Rangers in quarter number one, helped lead to a 43-0 win over the Rangers.
Rangers end the season with a 2-9 record as Southwestern Oklahoma State finishes 3-8 following the game Saturday afternoon.
Brodey Johnson led the Rangers with 148 passing yards, Bailee Davenport had 51 receiving yards, Darien Gill had 65 rushing yards. Coby Tillman led the Rangers with 12 tackles, Kellum had an interception in the game.
The opening kickoff the Rangers pinned the Bulldogs inside the 10 yard line before three plays later Isaiah Kellum picked off Tate Robards for the interception, setting the Rangers up on the 32 yard line of Southwestern's. The Rangers were able to pick up a first down as Brodey Johnson rushed to the right for an eight yard gain and a first down. After a six yard pass to Mark Zamora the Rangers missed a 32 yard field goal as the game remained 0-0. Southwestern used a five play drive to take the game's first score. The drive started with a 17 yard first down play leading to a 62 yard touchdown pass from Robards to Elijah Reed for the 7-0 lead following the extra point. The Rangers punted before a 22 yard touchdown pass to Reed for his second of the day after the drive was set up by a 58 yard punt return. The Bulldogs took a 14-0 lead over the Rangers through the end of the opening quarter.
In the second quarter it was all defense as neither team was able to get into the end zone. The quarter featured three first downs total as the Rangers held the Bulldogs to 19 total yards including negative two passing yards. Rangers longest play came with a 20 yard rush by Darien Gill. The game went into the halftime break with the Rangers trailing 14-0.
In the third quarter the Rangers started the half with the ball looking to chip into the deficit. Brodey Johnson connected with Travis Romar for a 14 yard gain and a first down before another 11 yards for the Rangers on a five yard pass and a six yard rush. However Zach Roberts, Southwestern defender picked off the next pass for his first interception of the game and gave the ball back to Southwestern Oklahoma State. The Bulldogs used an 11 play drive to get down to the Rangers one yard line. The Rangers defense however stuffed the Bulldogs for three straight plays forcing a turnover on downs and keeping the score 14-0. The Rangers were forced to punt before a Dante Dean, the Bulldog running back ran for a 43 yard touchdown. The Bulldogs took a 35-0 lead into the fourth quarter following a 26 yard fumble recovery for a touchdown and a three yard rushing touchdown for the 35-0 lead over the Rangers. The score remained 35-0 through the three quarters of play.
The fourth quarter Southwestern had a long 11 play drive but were forced to punt as the two teams traded punts to start the quarter. The Bulldogs scored two more times in the quarter on a six play 80 yard drive completed on a one yard rushing touchdown setup on a 48 yard pass. After the two point conversion the Bulldogs led 43-0, a 22 yard passing touchdown to Nash for a 50-0 lead.
The score ended 50-0 as the Bulldogs topped the Rangers on Saturday afternoon to close out the season.
