Lady Rangers Face Southern Nazarene Thursday Evening

ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Lady Rangers Basketball close out the fourth straight home game on Thursday evening as Southern Nazarene come to Percefull Fieldhouse for the third conference game of the season. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM against the Crimson Storm.

The Lady Rangers opened conference play splitting the first two games with a win over Arkansas Tech followed by a loss to Harding on Saturday. Northwestern comes in with a 4-2 record at home.

NORTHWESTERN:

Entering play on Saturday Southern Nazarene leads the series history between the two with a 24-7 record winning 11 straight games over the Lady Rangers. Northwestern will look for the first win over the Crimson Storm since the 2018-2019 season when the Lady Rangers swept the season series. 

Last time out the Lady Rangers fell to Harding 59-47. Kira Bass had her season high in points scoring 22 points while adding eight rebounds, and three steals. She was one of two double figure scorers joined by Kennedy Hight with 12 points while finishing with five assists. 

Northwestern has four players averaging double figures led by Payton Jones with 14.6 points per game followed by Kennedy Hight at 12.3, Kira Bass with 10.8 and Carly Craig with 10.0. Hight leads the team with 34 assists on the season for an average of 4.25 followed by Carly Craig with 3.25 per game. 

Camille Thomas leads the team with 18 steals on the season for an average of 2.25 per game, followed by Kira Bass with 15 steals. Both lead the team with four blocks on to this point in the season. Thomas is the team's leading re-bounder with 5.8 just a head of Bass who adds 5.4 per game. 

SOUTHERN NAZARENE:

The Crimson Storm enter Thursday's game on a three game winning streak with a 5-3 record, including a road record of 1-1. Southern Nazarene ended non-conference play with a win over Angelo State before beating Arkansas Monticello and Southern Arkansas to start conference play. 

Last time out Hannah Giddey was the team's leading scorer with 26 points adding 13 rebounds helping her earn Great American Conference player of the week after two double-doubles. Katie King was the other scorer in double figures with 11 points, finishing with four steals. 

Giddey overall is the team's leading scorer with 17.0 points per game and 9.3 rebounds both team highs. She is one of two players scoring double figures as Umi Otsuka scores 10.1 points per game. Giddey leads the team with 33 assists on the season with 4.13 per game. 

On defense Hannah Giddey leads the team with 23 blocks on the year along with six steals. That is 2.88 blocks per game. Katie King leads the team with 20 steals on the season. Giddey brings down 9.3 rebounds per game. 

STAT OF THE GAME:

The Lady Rangers are top 25 in the nation for DII in two statistics, first offensive rebounds per game at 15.8 which is 25th in DII and first in the Great American Conference. The second is turnovers where the Lady Rangers are 10th in turnover margin and second in the GAC with a margin of plus 8.63 and 13th overall in the turnovers per game and fourth in the conference. Southern Nazarene is 13th in blocks per game in DII and first in the conference with 4.9. Northwestern Southern Nazarene is top 15th in turnovers with 12.5 per game, seventh in DII and 3rd in the GAC.
