McDowell Scores 41 Points in Regular Season Finale

DURANT, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State closed out their regular season on Saturday afternoon with a game at Southeastern. In an offensive battle between the two teams Southeastern held on for the four point victory over the Rangers 93-89. 

The Rangers end the season with a 16-12 record with a 14-8 Great American Conference record. Northwestern finishes 6-6 on the road this season. 

Camron McDowell led the way for the Rangers with 41 points in the game after having 30 in the first half. Larry White was the other double figure scorer in the game with 16 points while adding a team high eight rebounds and three assists. 

Southeastern opened the scoring for the Saturday match up with the first five points of the game after a three pointer by Kyle Leslie. Justin Norris hit the first shot for the Rangers with a three pointer assisted by Kennedy Milton. Milton then tied the game at five for a 5-0 Ranger run. 

The Savage Storm took a 16-10 lead over the Rangers before Camron McDowell scored five straight for the Rangers to cut the deficit back down to one at 16-15 with 14:32 left in the opening half. Southeastern Oklahoma State took it back to six at 22-16 with 12:57 left in the opening half.

McDowell then scored six straight as the Rangers trailed 27-25. After Justin Norris three pointer his second of the half, McDowell gave the Rangers the lead at 32-31 for the teams first lead of the game at 7:44 left in the half. 

Southeastern then extended their lead back to six at 42-36, the teams battled to a Southeastern lead at 50-45 before the Rangers stormed back to close the first half. McDowell hit a three pointer before DeRaun Clark hit a layup to tie the game at 50-50. Justin Norris scored two more to give him eight in the first half and a 52-50 lead over the Savage Storm following the 7-0 run to close the half. McDowell led the Rangers with 30 points in the first half. 

Kennedy Milton and Kabeya Tshibangu scored back to back to start the second half for the Rangers for a 56-52 Ranger lead three minutes into the second half. Larry White then scored five straight for the Rangers keeping Northwestern out in front still in the early part of the second half. 

Southeastern grabbed their first lead of the second half with a Robert Briley layup with 13:41 left in the half. Larry White and Camron McDowell helped the Rangers take the lead back at 67-65. The game continued to go back and forth as DaRaun Clark tied the game at 71-71 with 8:40 remaining in the game. 

With five minutes left in the game Southeastern extended their lead back to four at 81-77 after two points from Burns. Four straight by the Rangers tied the game following a defensive steal and transition slam dunk to tie the game by Larry White. Southeastern was able to extend their lead back out to five though for a 90-85 lead with a minute left to play. 

Camron McDowell scored four straight for the Rangers but Southeastern took care of business from the foul line late in the game to seal the victory over the Rangers. McDowell finished with 41 points which tied for second most in a game in Northwestern history. 

Southeastern finished with the season sweep over the Rangers. Northwestern will now be back in action on Friday afternoon in the Great American Conference tournament. The opponent is still to be determined.
