Rangers Drop Series to Harding in First Round of GAC Tournament

SEARCY, ARKANSAS - Northwestern Oklahoma State and Harding waited in a four hour weather delay before getting started in game two of the best of three series. Rangers scored one in the sixth inning but a late Bisons rally scoring one in each of the 8th and 9th inning helped Harding hit a walk-off single for the 2-1 victory.

Northwestern was led in hitting by Chad Green who had a hit and an RBI. Dylan Bradford, Carson Wright, and Colby Grace were the other Rangers each with a hit in the game. Max McClain threw 4.2 innings most on the Rangers, as Colby Mitchell and Jacob Shaw each threw over an inning.

First hit of the game came in the second inning after a scoreless first inning as the Bisons put two runners on base but Colby Mitchell worked around the jam holding the game scoreless.

The third inning the Bisons put two runners on again before Max McClain entered the game escaping the jam. The game stayed 0-0 into the sixth inning when the Rangers offense was the first to score.

Dylan Bradford was the first batter to reach as he drew a one out walk. Chad Green stepped up with an RBI single to left center as Bradford came around to score from first on the play. This pushed the Rangers in front 1-0 over the Bisons.

McClain completed his fourth scoreless inning after a scoreless 7th inning working around a single and a walk. Harding had a lead off walk in the bottom of the 8th inning before a double set up second and third with one out. The following hitter Price hit a sacrifice fly to right field scoring one run to tie the game at 1-1.

In the ninth Carson Wright led the inning off with a single before a double play cleared the bases going into the bottom of the inning tied 1-1. Harding had a lead off walk before a sacrifice bunt sent the runner to second.

Bowie then followed with an RBI single to right field as McNeel scored a head of the tag for the 2-1 victory over the Rangers. The final score was 2-1 Harding as the Bisons won the series 2-0 over the Rangers.

Northwestern finishes the season 31-20 on the season with a 19-13 conference record. The 31 wins are the most wins for Northwestern Baseball since the 2012 season.
