ALVA, OKLAHOMA - The Northwestern Oklahoma State Lady Rangers (7-8, 3-6 GAC) have game two of the three straight home games on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM against Southern Arkansas (8-7,3-6 GAC). The Lady Rangers are 7-2 at home winning three straight in Alva.
This is match-up number 24 of the series history between the two teams dating back to 1977. Northwestern trails the series between the two 11-12. The Lady Rangers have won the last two meetings after a season sweep a year ago and have won six of the last 10 match-ups. In Alva the Rangers trail 4-7 against the Muleriders.
Northwestern snapped a three-game losing streak against Arkansas Monticello on Thursday evening. The Lady Rangers had two double-figure scorers in the win as Carly Craig and Jaida Shipp each had 19 points. Shipp had her second consecutive game earning a double-double. Northwestern closed out the double-digit victory 74-57 behind a 30-point fourth quarter. Â
The Rangers are led by Payton Jones at 13.6 points per game, one of three double-figure scorers with Hight at 11.9 and Kira Bass at 10.3. Kira Bass is second in the conference in offensive rebounds per game at 3.2 followed by Camille Thomas at 2.8 for 5th. Carly Craig is third in the conference in three-point percentage at 35.1%. Hight leads the team in assists at 4.1 per game for third in the conference.Â
Kira Bass leads the team in blocks on the season with 17 blocks, fourth in the conference. Bass has had at least two blocks in three straight games. Carly Craig leads the team with 27 steals followed by Camille Thomas with 26 steals. Kira Bass with her 17 blocks has 23 steals.Â
The Lady Rangers' defense is second in the conference in turnovers forced per game at 19.6, and second in turnover margin. Northwestern is second in scoring with 70.0 points per game.
Southern Arkansas :
The Muleriders enter play on Saturday with an 8-7 record and a 3-6 conference record. Southern Arkansas is 2-4 on the road this season. The Muleriders are 1-4 in their last five games with a win over East Central.Â
Last time out on Thursday Southern Arkansas lost to Southwestern Oklahoma State by a final of 55-47. In the loss, Southern Arkansas was led by Elena Lijo-Rodriguez with 22 points followed by Marlee Bright with 10 points while also adding seven steals.
