ALVA, Okla. - The Northwestern Oklahoma State Volleyball team battled Arkansas Tech this Friday afternoon and lost in three-sets 13-25, 16-25 and 17-25.
Set one was all Arkansas Tech, as they jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back. The Rangers attempted to claw back late in the set, but the Golden Suns lead was too big to recover and they would drop the set 25-13.
Arkansas Tech once again jumped out to an early lead in set two, putting Northwestern in a quick 7-0 hole. The Rangers found a little momentum with back to back kills from Tess de Zanet cutting the lead to 15-8 midway through the set. Finding themselves down 20-11 late in the set Northwestern went on a four point run to bring the lead within five at 20-15. The comeback would fall short, as Arkansas Tech took set two 25-16.
Northwestern carried momentum into the third set and kept things close for most of the set. Arkansas Tech however would seize the opportunity to turn the game around midway through the set, leaving Northwestern behind with a score of 25-17.
The Rangers were led by Ivanny Blackwood with seven kills. Jadyn Padilla had 17 digs. Ryann Eastes assisted the team 11 times while Mikayla White added 10 assists, five digs and five kills. Naya Danenburg led the team in aces with three.
Northwestern will be in action again next Thursday, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m., when they travel to Magnolia, Arkansas to take on Southern Arkansas.
