Lady Rangers Face Arkansas Tech to Close out Road Trip

ALVA, OKLAHOMA - The Northwestern Oklahoma State Lady Rangers (10-9, 7-6 GAC)  are in Russellville, Arkansas to complete the two game trip to Arkansas ending with the Golden Suns of Arkansas Tech (3-14, 1-12 GAC). Lady Rangers will look to complete the season sweep over Arkansas Tech after winning the fist matchup 72-62 back in December.

This is matchup number 22 of the series history between the two teams dating back to 2013. Northwestern trails the series history 6-15 against Arkansas Tech in that period. Northwestern has won three of the last five including the matchup early this season. Last win in Russellville was a 80-68 victory in 2023.

Northwestern has won four of the last five games with wins over Southwestern (53-36), Southern Arkansas (75-59), Arkansas Monticello (74-57), and Harding (63-61) snapping the Bisons 33 game home win streak. 

In the last time out the Lady Rangers won over Harding 63-61 in Searcy for the first road win of the season. Northwestern had a balanced scoring attack with 10 different players scoring in the win. 

The Rangers are led by Payton Jones at 12.3 points per game, one of three double-figure scorers with Hight at 11.4, and Carly Craig at 10.4. Kira Bass is second in the conference in offensive rebounds per game at 3.2 per game followed by Camille Thomas at 2.8 for 4th. Carly Craig is first in three-point percentage in the conference and second in three-pointers per game. Hight is third in the conference in assists per game at 4.1.

Kira Bass leads the team in blocks on the season with 19 blocks, fourth in the conference. Carly Craig leads and Camille Thomas leads the team with 34 steals. Kira Bass with her 19 blocks has 23 steals. Thomas is the team-leading rebounder with 6.4 per game.

The Lady Rangers' defense is second in the conference in turnovers forced per game at 18.94, and second in turnover margin. The Lady Rangers are first in the conference in offensive rebounds per game with 14.6.

ARKANSAS TECH:

Arkansas Tech enters Saturday afternoon with a 3-14 record overall and a 1-12 GAC record on an 11-game losing streak. The Golden Suns are 1-6 at home.

The Golden Suns are looking for their first victory since a 75-70 win over Southwestern on December 7th.

During the season the team is led in scoring with two players averaging double figures led by AbbiGrace Cunningham at 10.7 points per game followed by Olivia Jones with 10.2 points per game. Andie Zylak is first on the team with 58 assists. 

Defensively Andie Zylak leads the team with 25 steals along with adding 11 blocks on the season. Julie Wagner is first on the team in blocks with 18 on the year.
