Ranger Basketball Heads to Weatherford Thursday

ALVA, OKLAHOMA - The Northwestern Oklahoma State Men's Basketball team (12-10, 9-7 GAC) is headed to Weatherford, Oklahoma to face Southwestern Oklahoma State (10-11, 7-9 GAC). Rangers will look to bounce back from a Saturday afternoon loss to Ouachita Baptist, as the Rangers have won three of the last five games.

This will be the 29th meeting in the series between the two programs since 1998 as Northwestern leads the series history 16-12 including winning three straight over the Bulldogs. Rangers won the first meeting of the season 70-64 earlier in January. The Rangers have won four of the last five overall in the series. Southwestern is 8-4 in Weatherford.

Rangers split the two home games a week ago with a Thursday 90-81 win over Henderson State before a 79-78 loss to Ouachita Baptist on Saturday. 

In the loss to Ouachita Baptist the Rangers were led by Camron McDowell with 39 points in the game along with six rebounds. He was one of three players in double figures joined by Max Alexander with 13 points and DaRaun Clark with 10. 

The Rangers are led by Camron McDowell and Max Alexander, averaging the most on the team. McDowell is scoring 25.9 points per game which is first in the conference and third in the nation.McDowell is averaging 30.4 points per game over the last five games he has scored double figures. Alexander scores 20.6 points per game for third in the conference. Alexander is fifth in the conference in assists with 4.6 per game. Kabeya Tshibangu is fourth in the conference in offensive rebounds with 2.50.

McDowell is the team leader in steals with 41 which is third in the conference followed by Max Alexander with 39 which is fourth in the conference. Tshibangu leads the team with 24 blocks on the year which is third in the conference and third in blocks per game at 1.09 he has added 20 steals on the season as well.

Rangers are first in the league in turnovers per game at 15.68 and first in turnover margin. Northwestern is first in free throws made this season in the conference, and second in free throw percentage. 

SOUTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA STATE:

Southwestern Oklahoma State has won two straight games after sweeping their set a week ago with wins over Ouachita Baptist and Henderson State. The Bulldogs are 10-11 overall with a 7-9 conference record.

Southwestern was led by Elijah Williams with 20 points in the win, one of four players in double figures joined by Tucker Shepherd with 15, MJ Warrior with 13, and Tobias Roland with 11.

The Bulldogs are led by Tobias Roland with 13.7 points per game, one of three double-figure scorers joined by MJ Warrior, and Eli Al-Debaran. Warrior is the team lead in assists with 110 and third per game at 5.2 on the season.

The defense is led by MJ Warrior with 1.52 steals per game which is ninth in the conference, and has 32 overall on the year. Tobias Roland leads the team with eight blocks on the year and leads the team with 4.7 rebounds per game.
