Lady Rangers Face Southwestern in Weatherford Thursday

ALVA, OKLAHOMA - The Northwestern Oklahoma State Lady Rangers Women's Basketball team (12-10, 9-7 GAC) is headed to Weatherford, Oklahoma to face Southwestern Oklahoma State (12-10, 8-8 GAC). Rangers will look for their third straight victory after sweeping last week's pair of games with wins over Henderson State and Ouachita Baptist. Rangers have won three of the last five games.

This matchup is number 29 in the series history between the two programs since 2013. The Rangers have won four of the last five meetings against the Bulldogs. Southwestern leads the history 21-7 overall including 11-1 at home against Northwestern.

Northwestern picked up an 81-45 victory over Henderson State before coming back to beat Ouachita Baptist 66-60. 

In the last time out the Lady Rangers were led by Payton Jones with 26 points one of two players scoring double figures joined by Camille Thomas with 18 points. Jones added eight rebounds and hit the 1,000-point mark in her career.

Northwestern is led by Payton Jones averaging 13.0 points per game, one of three players scoring double figures. She is joined by Kennedy Hight and Carly Craig both over the double-digit mark at 11.4 and 10.0. Craig leads the team with 84 assists on the season which is good for third in the conference. Craig is first in three-point percentage and second in the conference in three-pointers per game. Kira Bass is second in the conference in offensive rebounds with 3.1 per game.

Carly Craig leads the team in steals with 42 on the season for fourth in the conference followed by Camille Thomas who has 38 for sixth in the conference with 14 blocks. Kira Bass is first on the team in blocks with 21 while adding 28 steals on the season. Camille Thomas has a team-high 6.1 rebounds per game.

The Lady Rangers lead the conference in offensive rebounds per game at 14.1 and first in the conference in steals per game at 9.8. The team is second in the conference in turnovers forced per game at 18.36 per game. 

SOUTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA STATE BULLDOGS:

Southwestern Oklahoma State is on a two-game win streak and winners in three of their last five games. The Bulldogs 12-10 overall with an 8-8 conference record are also 7-2 at home.

Last time out in a win over Henderson State 64-60, led by Mason Jones with 16 points one of three players in double figures joined by Layni Zinn and Averi Zinn with 15 and 10 points.

Overall the team is led by Averi Zinn with 11.2 points per game the only Bulldogs averaging double figures Hailey Grant and Layni Zinn are just under double figures at 9.5 and 9.2. Averiz Zinn leads the team in assists with 66 on the season for eighth in the conference.

Defensively the team is led by Averi Zinn with 41 steals on the season followed by Mason Jones with 37. Hailey Grant has 24 blocks on the year while adding 23 steals. Grant leads the team with 4.2 rebounds per game.

The Bulldogs are first in turnover margin at 6.32 and first in turnovers forced per game at 19.00. Southwestern is second in points allowed giving up 60 per game and holding teams to 39.3 percent shooting.
