Rangers Split Season Series with Washburn After Tuesday Game

TOPEKA, KANSAS - Northwestern Oklahoma State played the final road game of the 2025 season against Washburn in Topeka, Kansas. Washburn used a fast start taking an early 3-0 lead before going on to close out a 14-4 win over the Rangers.

Northwestern falls to 27-20 on the season as Washburn improves to 23-23.

Rangers were led in hitting by Hagen Barcello with two on the afternoon, along with a run scored. Zach Vetal had a hit, a run, and an RBI in the game. Chad Green drove in two runs with a hit. Trevor Saire had a run scored and an RBI. 

The Rangers left two runners on base in the first before Washburn plated three runs. Started with an RBI single back up the middle, two hits straight for the early 2-0 lead. The Rangers trailed 3-0 after the first inning.

The game stayed 3-0 until the fourth inning when Washburn was able to add a run on a single through the left side scoring Scott for the RBI and a 4-0 Washburn lead.

Northwestern cut the deficit in half with two runs in the fifth inning after a sacrifice fly from Saire scored Barcello for the first Rangers run. Vetal followed with an RBI single to cut into the 4-2 deficit.

Washburn added six runs though in the sixth inning after two singles led to an RBI double for the 5-2 lead over the Rangers. Two batters later it was a 2-RBI single scoring two runs before an RBI double pushed the home team's lead to 10-2 over the Rangers.

Northwestern scored two runs back in the seventh inning after a Connor Green 2-RBI double to left field scored Vetal and Saire for the 10-4 deficit before Washburn got out of the inning.

Washburn was able to score four runs in the seventh inning to seal the win over the Rangers. Priest hit a three-run home run before an RBI single pushed the home team's win to 14-4.

The Rangers close out the regular season with a home series against Southwestern Oklahoma State starting on Friday, April 25th at 6:00 PM.
