SEARCY, ARKANSAS - Northwestern Oklahoma State Ranger Softball closed out the regular season and three game series against the Bisons Saturday afternoon. Harding struck with a four run second inning to take the game's first lead before closing out the 7-3 win over the Rangers.
Northwestern is 14-36 overall with a 8-25 GAC record on the season as the Bisons go to 38-15 on the season with a 21-12 conference mark.Â
The Rangers were led in hits by Jadyn Muns, Macy Spearman, and Makanalei Lapera with two hits each. Kaitlyn Corn had the Rangers RBI, while Spearman scored two runs.Â
Northwestern had a hit in the opening inning but were unable to score, after a leadoff single by Muns. Harding had two hits in the first but were not able to score.
The Bisons used a big second inning taking control early after two singles to start the inning led to an RBI groundout for the early 1-0 lead. That was followed by an RBI single before a throwing error allowed two more runs to score and a 4-0 lead over the Rangers.
Northwestern had a leadoff double by Spearman with a hit to right center field before a RBI single by Corn scored the Rangers first run as Spearman crossed the plate as the Rangers trailed 4-1.Â
The Ranger got a shutdown third inning before chipping into the deficit once more after a one out single by Lapera and Rachel Sherwood led to two runs scored on a throwing error as the Rangers then trailed 4-3 after four innings of play.
Harding was able to extend their lead in the sixth inning after an error and two singles before an error allowed two runs to score before an RBI single made the game 7-3 in favor of the Bisons.Â
Harding closed out the 7-3 win over the Rangers after a perfect inning to take the series victory over Northwestern to close the season.Â
