Santangelo Takes Communications Role at University of South Carolina Beaufort

ALVA, OKLAHOMA – Northwestern Oklahoma State University Assistant Athletic Director for Communications, Andrew Santangelo, has accepted a new position at the University of South Carolina Beaufort as the Director of Athletic Communications.

While at Northwestern, Santangelo served as the primary media contact for all 13 NCAA Ranger athletic programs along with Men's and Women's Rodeo, overseeing the athletic communications department. His responsibilities included writing press releases, creating social media content, and promoting Northwestern athletics.

"Andrew has done a fantastic job in his role promoting and heading up Ranger athletic communications. He has worked hard, and I am happy he has been rewarded with this opportunity in his home state. Our student-athletes have been rewarded with great coverage during his time, and he was always a mainstay with our programs. I truly appreciate his dedication to Ranger sports," said Brad Franz, Vice President for Athletics.

In addition, he managed game day operations for all athletic events, supervising graduate assistants and student workers. He was also responsible for in-game live statistics and live streaming for all home events. Throughout his time in Alva, Santangelo also contributed to radio broadcasts for Ranger football, basketball, and baseball road games.

"I am very grateful for the opportunities and experiences I have had at Northwestern. I want to thank everyone at Northwestern for allowing me to begin my dream of working in sports. I especially want to thank Brad Franz for helping me grow professionally as a leader. It has been an honor to work at Northwestern, and while I am excited for my next steps, I will miss being a part of the Ranger Family," Santangelo said.

Santangelo arrived in Alva in the fall of 2019 after graduating from Oklahoma State University. He worked as a graduate assistant while pursuing his master's degree at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Upon graduating, he continued his career in the communications department after being promoted in 2021.
