HAYS, KANSAS – The Northwestern Oklahoma State Volleyball traveled to Hays, Kansas to compete in the Tiger Classic Tournament on Sept. 11-12. The Lady Rangers started off the first day of the tournament with two losses against Augustana University and Bethel College.
The Lady Rangers lost an early morning game against the Augustana University Vikings. The Vikings took the first set 25-16. The Lady Rangers played a close second set, fought until the last play, won 28-26 and tied the game 1-1. The Augustana Vikings won the third and fourth sets 25-20 and 25-17 to win the game.
The Rangers were led by
Ece Ozdemir with 14 kills and one ace,
Tess De Zanet added 10 kills and two blocks.
Mikayla White led the team in assists with 28.
Naya Danenburg added 18 digs for Northwestern.
The second game of the day was unsuccessful as well. The Lady Rangers lost all three sets to Bethel College 15-25, 18-25, 13-25. Northwestern tried to stay in the game and almost had them in the second set by tying the score four times throughout the set but could not succeed to win it. The last set of the game was unlucky for the Lady Rangers as well and the Threshers won the match 3-0.
The leaders of the second game of the day were: De Zanet with 11 kills, seven digs and one ace. White added 12 assists.
Northwestern will continue their competition at the tournament tomorrow against Fort Hays State University Tigers at 11:30 a.m. and New Mexico Highlands University at 4:30 p.m.
