RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Northwestern Oklahoma State football team fell to Arkansas Tech, 44-0, in the Rangers' first road trip of the season.
The Wonder Boys opened the game by scoring a touchdown on the first play, and tacked on another touchdown in the first few minutes to make it 14-0. After that, the game became a defensive battle, with the Rangers only giving up nine more points in the half to trail 23-0 at halftime.
The Rangers opened the second half with one of the more successful drives of the day, as they marched down to the Wonder Boy 32-yard line before turning it over on downs.
Ezequiel Luna helped the Ranger offense come to life on the drive, as he finished with 59 yards on the ground after only having 10 in the first half. The Wonder Boys tacked on another touchdown to take a 30-0 lead into the fourth quarter. Arkansas Tech returned two interceptions for touchdowns in the fourth quarter to win 44-0.
Caleb Deal finished as the passing leader for the Rangers with 63 yards on 11-21 passing, while
Henry Wilson Jr. caught three passes for 59 yards.
On the defensive side,
Aiden Lewis and
Brayden Darrell led the Rangers in tackles, with Lewis having nine and Darrell recording eight, including two tackles for loss.
The Rangers will travel to Shawnee on September 20th to face Oklahoma Baptist at 7 p.m.
