EDMOND, OK - Northwestern Lady Rangers Volleyball team traveled to Edmond this Friday night to face University of Central Oklahoma Bronchos, on day one of the MIAA/GAC Crossover Tournament. Unfortunately, The Bronchos were better this time than The Lady Rangers. Northwestern lost 0-3.
Lady Rangers struck first to start the first set of the game with 2:0. The Rangers and The Bronchos fought point to point until The Bronchos went on an 11:0 run and put themselves in a lead of 13 points 20:7. The Rangers tried to come back but could not succeed and lost the first set 11:25.
The Lady Rangers played point to point again in the first half of the first set, but The Bronchos went on another 7:0 run and put themselves in a nine-point lead 17:8. The Rangers could not catch a break and lost the second set of the game 12:25. UCO was now leading the game 2-0.
For the third and closest set of the game, The Lady Rangers fought even harder and even had a two-point lead at the score of 8:6, but it didn't take long for The Bronchos to take over the lead and keep it for the rest of the set. Unfortunately, The Lady Rangers lost the third set 19:25 and lost the game 0-3.
Ece Ozdemir led the team with eight kills and 12 digs followed by
Mikayla White with six kills, 11 assists, seven digs and one ace. Tess de Zanet added four kills and
Cameryn Barclay three.
Tomorrow, for the second day of the MIAA/GAC Crossover Tournament, Northwestern will face Fort Hays State University Tigers at 9 a.m. and Newman University Jets at 2:30 p.m. in Shawnee.
