ALVA, Okla. - The Northwestern Oklahoma State volleyball team fell in a Friday evening tilt to Ouachita Baptist in three straight sets.

Northwestern got down early on in set one 5-1, but fought back midway to make it a 13-12 Ouachita Baptist lead. The Rangers found themselves in a hole again following that, as the Tigers extended their lead to 19-15. Northwestern made it interesting late rallying to get it to 24-20 but could not overcome the early lead dropping the first set.

The Rangers once again found themselves down from the jump of set two. Northwestern put together a 7 to 4 run to tie the set at 10. From there the two sides exchanged points, as both sides battled for the set. Ouachita appeared to pull away going up 22-20 late in the set but Northwestern didn't quit scoring three straight points to take a 23-22 lead. Northwestern fought hard but Ouachita claimed the second set with a 4-1 point swing.

Set three started where the second set left off, as both teams exchanged points in the early going. Ouachita began to pull away with a 7-1 point run to make the score 11-5. The Rangers rallied back to cut the Tiger lead to three at 12-9. Northwestern found themselves trailing late in the set as Ouachita jumped out to a 23-18 lead. Northwestern continued to fight but ran out of time as Ouachita took the third set and the match.

The Rangers will be back in action on Oct. 8, when they travel to Searcy to take on Harding at 6 p.m.
