Rangers Fall to Tigers in Saturday Showdown

ADA, Okla  - The Northwestern Oklahoma State men's basketball team dropped the final of their four game road trip to East Central 103-75 on Saturday afternoon in Ada.

The Rangers found themselves trailing 7-0 early on in the game but found a bit of momentum going on a 7-3 run to cut the Tigers lead to 10-7 just before the first media timeout out of the half. Northwestern could not keep the momentum on their side as East Central pushed their lead to 23-10 half way through the first half by virtue of a 10-3 run. The Rangers kept the pressure on defensively, which led to a Robbie Armbreaster dunk, however they could not slow down the Tigers as they extended their lead to 40-18 late in the half.

A couple of baskets by Kenny Burns III and Max Alexander gave Northwestern a quick spark with five unanswered points and cut the lead to under 20-points with just under three minutes left in the half. The Rangers found themselves trailing 53-30 at the halftime break.

Northwestern came out of the halftime break and grabbed the momentum with a quick 8-2 run to cut the East Central lead to 55-38. The Rangers once again turned up the defensive pressure as they held the Tigers to just two points for just over three minutes keeping things at 57-38. Northwestern was not able to keep the Tigers quiet for long as they went on a 22-6 run and extended their lead to 79-46. Northwestern continued to play tough but could not overcome the deficit as they fell to East Central.

Northwestern will be back in action on Monday February 16th as they host Southeastern at 7:30 p.m.
