Adigun Powers Lady Rangers Over Savage Storm with Career-High 27 Points

ALVA, Okla. – The Northwestern Oklahoma State women's basketball team defeated Southeastern, 74-64, on Monday afternoon. The win moves the Lady Rangers to 16-8 on the season, and 11-7 in Great American Conference play.

The Lady Rangers immediately hammered away inside with Jaida Shipp scoring the first six points of the game to put Northwestern down 7-6 three minutes into the game. Kennedy Hight took over with three straight three-pointers to put the Lady Rangers ahead 15-13 midway through the quarter. Northwestern started to pull away with free throws from Shipp and a bucket inside from Bass to put Northwestern up 26-23 at the end of the first quarter.

Northwestern opened the second quarter on a 14-0 run fueled by Bass, Shipp, and two more treys from Hight to put the Lady Rangers up 40-25 with 5:09 remaining in the first half. The Lady Ranger defense continued to smother the Savage Storm, as they only scored five points in the first eight minutes of the quarter while Summya Adigun converted an and-one to bring Northwestern's lead to 45-28. The Lady Rangers closed out the half with free throws from Bass and Camille Pritchard to give Northwestern a 47-31 lead going into the locker room.
In the second half, the Lady Rangers continued to keep Southeastern at bay with layups from Bass, but the Savage Storm responded with two consecutive makes to get the lead down to 12 with 6:33 remaining in the third quarter and continued to cut into the deficit down to nine late in the quarter. Adigun answered back with back-to-back buckets to bring the lead back to 13, but Southeastern scored late to give Northwestern a 62-51 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Adigun knocked down a triple to open the fourth quarter, and drained another from deep to extend the lead back up to 15. The Lady Ranger defense continued to lock down Southeastern, as the Savage Storm went on a three-minute scoring drought midway through the quarter. Southeastern chipped in the lead to bring Northwestern's lead down to 10 with just under three minutes to go. Adigun knocked down her fifth and six threes of the game to bring the lead back up to 74-58, and the Lady Rangers closed out the game with a 74-64 victory.

Adigun led the Lady Rangers in points with a career-high 27 and six made threes, while Bass led in rebounds with 18 to go along with 17 points for her 10th double-double of the season. Hight led in assists with five, and tied a career-high five threes for 15 points.

The Lady Rangers will be back in action on February 19, when they take on Southern Arkansas University inside Percefull Fieldhouse at 5:30 p.m.
