Rangers Drop Doubleheader to Arkansas Tech

ALVA, Okla. – The Northwestern Oklahoma State baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader against Arkansas Tech Saturday afternoon.

Game 1
The Rangers and Wonder Boys started out in a pitching duel, with Northwestern striking first on a Jailon Goodfellow double to right field, followed by a single up the middle from Brody Harris and Grady Thomas reaching on an error to bring home the first run of the day. Alex Dabrowski added on another run on a ground out, and Thomas came home on an error to give Northwestern a 3-0 lead through three innings.

Arkansas Tech responded with a six-run fourth inning, and the Rangers tried to answer in the fifth with a double from Goodfellow, but could not get another run on the board. The Wonder Boys tacked on two more runs in the sixth, and the Rangers responded with two runs of their own on a single from Dabrowski, double by Matthew Bailey, and a single from Joel Lindahl. The Rangers could not complete the comeback and fell to Arkansas Tech, 8-5.

Lindahl led the Rangers in hits with three, while four different Rangers each had an RBI.

Game 2

The Ranger offense came to life in the second inning with a walk from Lindahl and Goodfellow lacing a single up the middle to get a runner in scoring position. Northwestern could not get a run on the board until the third inning, when Thomas and Dabrowski singled to get on base followed by Bailey brought Thomas to chip into the lead.

The Rangers were not done yet, as Cole Barton reached on an error to cut the lead down to 5-2 through three innings. The Wonder Boys added another run in the top of the fourth, and the Rangers struggled to get multiple runners on base in the next three innings. Arkansas Tech played a run in the seventh to go up 7-2, and Northwestern could not respond and fell, 7-2.

Five different Rangers recorded a hit on the day, with Bailey getting the only RBI of the game.
