Ranger Softball Closes Out Series in Russellville

RUSSELVILLE, Ar. - The Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball team lost their final game against the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns. Arkansas Tech sweeps the series against the Rangers. 

The hitting woes continued for Northwestern to begin the game. Ranger batters went down in order. Junior pitcher Grace Husley started on the mound for Northwestern. After walking the first batters, she got three straight outs to end the inning.  

Northwestern could not get on base in the top of the second after a couple of pop fly's. The Golden Suns singled in the bottom of the second but did not capitalize off of it. Northwestern ends the inning with the score still tied at 0. 

Northwestern left one batter on base in the third inning. The Golden Suns opened the game in the bottom of the third. After a Ranger error, the Golden Suns got the first run of the game with a sacrifice fly. A double and single would tack on three more runs in the inning. The Golden Suns led 4-0 after the third.  

Northwestern did not respond in the top of the fourth by going down in order. Senior pitcher Chloe Brown entered the game for the Rangers in the bottom of the fourth. After giving up a single, she proceeded to get out the remaining batters to keep the deficit at four.  

The Ranger batting struggles continued in the top of the fifth after a strikeout, fly out and ground out. The Golden Suns started the bottom of the fifth with a double. A sac fly scored the run to add on to their lead. They led 5-0 after five innings.  

The Rangers went down in order in the top of the sixth. After a strikeout, Chloe Brown gets the Rangers out of the inning without giving up any runs.  

Natalie Ackenhausen gets the first Ranger hit of the game with a single to start the top of the seventh inning. The Rangers are unable to capitalize after striking out to end the game. 

The Golden Suns struck out Northwestern seven times. Natalie Ackenhausen had the lone hit for the Rangers. Chloe Brown had a strikeout, two hits, and one earned run in three innings pitched.  

The Rangers drop the series 0-3. The Rangers are at East Central next week.
