HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – The Northwestern Oklahoma State baseball team fell to Harding, 4-2, in day one of the Great American Conference tournament on Thursday.
The Rangers got off to a fast start, as
Alex Dabrowski opened the game with a single to center field and moved to second off
Blake Mattern hitting into a fielder's choice.
Chase Gordon brought Dabrowski home on a single to right field to give Northwestern the 1-0 advantage, and
Joel Lindahl doubled the lead with a solo shot to right field in the fourth to make it 2-0 Northwestern.
Harding tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the sixth, and took the lead with two more runs in the seventh, 4-2. The Rangers tried to rally in the eighth, as Dabrowski hammered a single to right center field, with Mattern and Gordon moving Dabrowski all the way to third on back-to-back groundouts, but could not bring a run home. Northwestern tried to mount another rally in the ninth, but fell to Harding, 4-2.
Dabrowski led the Rangers in hits with three, while Gordon and Lindahl led in RBI with one each.
The Rangers will be back in action tomorrow, as they take on Ouachita Baptist in an elimination game at 1 p.m. at Majestic Park.
