HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – The Northwestern Oklahoma State baseball team fell to Arkansas Tech, 3-2, on day three of the Great American Conference baseball tournament.
The Rangers got off to a slow start, as Arkansas Tech struck first with a run in the bottom of the second and held on to a 1-0 lead through five innings. The Rangers moved a runner into scoring position in the top of the sixth, as
Alex Dabrowski drew a walk and
Blake Mattern moved him to second on a sacrifice bunt.
Joel Lindahl smashed a double to the center field wall, and Dabrowski strolled home to tie the game at 1-1.
After turning a double play in the bottom of the sixth,
Jailon Goodfellow kept the momentum with Northwestern by crushing a ball to left field to put the Rangers up 2-1.
Jason McCarty ripped a double to right field to put another Ranger in scoring position, moved to third on a wild pitch, but could not get home.
In the eighth, Mattern started the inning with a leadoff walk, and Lindahl followed up by reaching on a fielder's choice while Mattern moved to second to put two runners on.
Cole Barton reached on another fielder's choice to move Mattern to third and put runners at the corners, and Goodfellow loaded the bases by drawing a walk. Arkansas Tech scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to get the win 3-2.
Lindahl led the Rangers in hits with two, while Goodfellow and Lindahl each had an RBI.
