ALVA, OKLA. - The Northwestern Oklahoma State women's volleyball team dropped a back and forth match in four sets to Southeastern Oklahoma State on Thursday night.
The first set saw the Rangers jump out to a quick two point lead in the early going. Southeastern tied things up quickly, but Northwestern rallied to retake the lead going up 7-4. The Savage Storm marched back to tie things up again before taking the lead. The Rangers made an attempt to claw their way back but would fall in set one 25-20.
The second set also went to Southeastern, this time by a score of 25-12. The Rangers found themselves behind from the jump. Northwestern didn't give up continuing to fight their way back. Despite a late rally Northwestern could not overcome the early deficit dropping the second set of the night.
The third set started with another early Southeastern lead, as they went up 4-1 in the early stages. The Rangers fought back to tie the game at 10, before taking the lead shortly after 16-14. Northwestern took momentum with a late rally to win the third set 25-22.
Set four stayed closed for the majority of the set, as each team took a turn with the lead. Southeastern grabbed a three point lead midway through the set, which was quickly erased by Northwestern as the Rangers tied the set at 15. The Rangers continued to fight through the remainder of the set, but fell just short in set four.
The Rangers will be back in action on Tuesday, when they travel to Shawnee to take on Oklahoma Baptist in Great American Conference Action.
