ALVA, Okla. – The Northwestern Oklahoma State women's soccer team defeated Oklahoma Baptist, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon. The victory moves the Rangers to 6-1-1 on the season.
Northwestern's defense set the tone early, as the Bison fired off five shots in the first 17 minutes, but none of them made it near the net. The Rangers quickly turned defense into offense in the 18
th minute, as
Jenna Mills roped a pass to
Cambell Tabor, who crashed the left side of the net and put the Rangers ahead with her fourth goal of the season, 1-0.
The Ranger offense wasn't done yet, as
Jazelle Alvarado launched the ball over the goalkeeper's head and into the net two double the Ranger lead in the 24
th minute, 2-0. For the next 65 minutes, the Rangers continued to hold their own on defense, as
Taylor Annen recorded seven of her eight saves in the second half to give Northwestern a 2-0 win and Annen her fourth clean sheet of the season.
The Bison outshot the Rangers, 21-16, and had an 8-6 advantage in shots on goal.
Emerson Curd led the Rangers in shots with three, while Tabor led in shots on goal with two.
The Rangers will be back in action on Sept. 26, when they take on East Central at the Alva Recreation Complex at 11:00 a.m.
