ALVA, OKLA. - The Northwestern Oklahoma State Football team fell in a high scoring affair to Oklahoma Baptist 55-37 on Saturday night.
Northwestern found themselves down in the early going, as Oklahoma Baptist took the ball down the field on the first drive of the game to score a touchdown. The Rangers answered on the very next possession when Jayce Morgan punched in a one yard rush for a touchdown. Bringing the score to 7-6 after an unsuccessful point after attempt. The Bison extended their lead with a five yard rushing touchdown. The Rangers answered once again this time through the air as Jacob T Jones connected with Koda Bridges for a 31 yard touchdown pass, making it 14-13 in favor of the Bison. After a Bison touchdown, The Rangers found pay dirt on the ensuing drive as Jones scored his second touchdown of the game, this time using his legs as he scampered for a seven yard touchdown. Oklahoma Baptist took a 31-20 lead into the intermission break after a last second field goal attempt.
The Rangers started the second period of play with the ball and opened the half with a field goal, cutting into the Bison lead. Oklahoma Baptist scored a touchdown on their next drive, that was answered by a third Jones touchdown of the night bringing the score 38-30 with two minutes remaining in the third quarter. The Rangers found the endzone on their first drive of the fourth quarter, with a pass from Jones to Bailee Davenport bringing the score to 45-37. A Bison touchdown shortly after made it a two score game again at 52-37.
The game went into a lightning delay with 6:53 left in the fourth quarter and was later called due to weather in the area.
The Rangers will be back in action next Saturday, as they head to Ada, Oklahoma to take on East Central University.
