Attended Central Arizona College for two years from 2011-12 where he earned 2011 Super Regional MVP award along with being selected as an All-Star second baseman. Also made the Academic Honor Roll in 2011.

HIGH SCHOOL
Attended George Washington High School where he was a member of a team that finished runner up in the 2008 state championship...Earned numourous accolades during his time at George Washington HS including 2008, 2009, and 2010 MVP, All-State selection and was an East Coast Pro selection as well. Martinez was also a 2010 High School Diploma peer educator.
