Jonathan Freemyer

Jonathan Freemyer is entering his third year on the Ranger coaching staff. He currently serves as the Recruiting Coordinator and also works with hitters and outfielders.

In his two years on staff he has coached two All-Conference outfielders in Matt Benn in 2015 and Thomas Bess in 2016.

Freemyer finished out his baseball career in 2014 with an impressive senior campaign that included Great American Conference Player of the Year and Third Team NABC All-America accolades. He signed a professional contract at the end of the season as an undrafted free agent and the spent the summer in the Tampa Bay Rays organization.

The Kingwood, Texas native was also a four-year basketball standout from 2009-13, ending his career as Northwestern’s third all-time leading scorer. He is also top-five all-time in steals and rebounds. In 2012-13 he became the first player in GAC history to earn all-conference honors in two different sports, taking home first team honors on the hardwood and second team status on the diamond.

Freemyer graduated with his bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice in 2013 and finished up his Master's in American Studies in 2016.

Freemyer resides in Alva with his girlfriend, Jennifer and their five-year old German Shepherd, Sarge.Â
