Adding Kobe Martin to the Northwestern Oklahoma State University football coaching staff has proven to be a tremendous asset for the program. A former college quarterback and professional player, Coach Martin brings a wealth of experience to the field, both as a player and as a coach.
Martin’s football journey began at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas, where he was a quarterback. After his collegiate career, he transitioned to professional football, playing in the arena league for several teams, including the Sioux Falls Storm, Wichita Force, Wichita Regulators, Iowa Woo, and the Washington Wolf Pack. In his rookie season with the Wichita Force in 2022, Martin made an immediate impact, leading his team to an arena championship. His impressive stats during his professional career include over 750 passing yards, 150 rushing yards, a completion rate of 72%, and 23 total touchdowns in less than 15 games. Notably, in his second year, he set a franchise record for the most touchdown passes in a single game with five.
After a stellar playing career, Coach Martin turned to coaching, taking on the role of receivers coach at Bethany College. Over the course of two years, he significantly elevated the receiver room, mentoring two All-Conference players and helping a couple players move on to higher levels of competition, including one player transferring to the University of South Florida and another to Davenport University.
Coach Martin’s background as a quarterback has given him a unique and valuable perspective, allowing him to work with precision and attention to detail when coaching the receiving corps. His approach combines his technical skills as a former signal-caller with a keen understanding of the dynamics of the receiving game. He is expected to bring that same level of excellence to the Northwestern Oklahoma State football program.
Coach Martin’s leadership, competitive drive, and dedication to player development will undoubtedly continue to make a major impact on the team's success, both on and off the field.
