Brody Werner

Brody Werner will enter his first season for the Rangers after hired as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach in May 2026.
Werner comes to Alva after spending five years on staff at Division I Kansas City (UMKC), serving in several different roles. He served as the Director of Basketball, Recruiting, and Video Operations for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 season after serving as Video & Scouting Coordinator for 2023-24 and as a Graduate Assistant for 2021-22 and 2022-23. He was a part of two of the most successful seasons in Roos history with a second-place finish in 2023-24 and a Division I record-tying 19 wins in 2021-22.

Before his time in Kansas City, Werner spent four years as an undergraduate manager for the University of South Dakota. He spent 2017-18 under Craig Smith, followed by 2018-21 with Todd Lee. During his time in Vermillion, USD finished top-three in the Summit League three-of-four seasons, making one championship game.

Werner has also worked as a Basketball Skills Trainer at Going Vertical/Going Vertical Basketball Academy in Omaha, Neb., where he worked with players from the age of eight to veteran professionals, including former players from Creighton, Nebraska, Bowling Green, Louisville, among others. He also has coached high school football and basketball at Vermillion (SD) and Aurora (NE) HS and AAU for Central Nebraska Basketball Academy. In his career, Werner has worked with over 40 current and former professional players.

Werner earned his master's in Higher Education Administration from UMKC in 2023. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of South Dakota in 2021 with a double major in Kinesiology and Physical Education. He grew up in Aurora, Neb. and is the son of Scott and Lisa Werner.
