ALVA, Okla. - Northwestern Oklahoma State Volleyball was able to outlast and defeat Great American Conference adversary Ouachita Baptist in five sets this afternoon, by a final score of 3-2.
Individual Leaders- Natalie Fahey led Northwestern in overall kills with 20 total. Ashanti Banks also added 16 kills for the Ranger offense.
- Bailey Cook and Fahey each aided the defensive effort by adding four total blocks each for the Rangers.
- Korina Lillard was also a force on the defensive side of the ball as she totaled 18 digs for Northwestern.
- Kaydee Yukawa went on to lead the Rangers in assists with 43 in the match.
Game Changer- The black-and-red were able to claim the opening set by a score of 25-17 but set two brought a battle between the two sides which ended in a 27-25 Tiger victory to put things at 1-1.
- Ouachita took down the Rangers in set three by a score of 25-21 giving them the 2-1 set advantage heading into the fourth. Set four brought on yet another late battle between the two teams which ultimately ended in Northwestern's favor by a final of 31-29.
- The Rangers got off to a hot start yet again in set number five, going on a 4-1 run to open the set. The black-and-red did not let up there as a 5-0 run gave the home team a 9-3 lead. Northwestern went on yet another run of 6-1 which finally sealed the victory for the Rangers at 15-6.
News & Notes- The Rangers finished with a final stat line of: 81 Kills / 14 Blocks / 73 Assists / 64 Digs
- Northwestern currently holds a home record of 6-1.
Up Next- Northwestern Oklahoma State Volleyball will be back in action Tuesday, Oct. 27 as they host the NWOSU Tri-Match Tournament. Match time is set for 3 p.m. against Fort Hays State and again that evening for the Rangers at 7 p.m. against Panhandle State.
