Rangers Finish 2-2 At OPSU Aggie Challenge

The Basics - Game One
Score: Northwestern 1 – Fort Lewis College 3
Records: Northwestern (1-2, 0-0 GAC) – Fort Lewis College (2-1, 0-0 RMAC)
Location: Oscar Williams Field House – Goodwell, Okla.

GOODWELL, Okla. – Northwestern Oklahoma State  was taken down by non-conference opponent Fort Lewis College in their first match-up of the day by a score of 3-1 (28-30, 23-25, 25-21, 20-25) in the opening contest of day two of the OPSU Aggie Challenge.

Individual Leaders
  • Nora To'omalatai led the Rangers in kills once again for the third straight game as she totaled 21. 
  • Maggie Ireton would lead the black-and-red with three total blocks.
  • Both Kaydee Yukawa and Cassidy Hackett led Northwestern in assists with 19 total each.
  • Carley Geer led the team in total digs for the second straight match as well with 12.
     
Game Changer
  • The first set saw an intense match-up between the Rangers and Skyhawks as the final score would end up being 30-28 with a 3-0 run by Fort Lewis to claim the opening set.
  • Despite multiple stat lines being in Northwestern's favor as they led in overall in hitting percentage, kills and digs, Fort Lewis was still able to come up with the victory.

  • The Rangers finished with a team stat line of:  49 Kills /  5 Aces /  11 Blocks /  45 Assists /  53 Digs


The Basics - Game Two
Score: Northwestern 3 – Panhandle State 0
Records: Northwestern (2-2, 0-0 GAC) – OPSU (1-3, 0-0 Heartland)
Location: Oscar Williams Field House – Goodwell, Okla.

GOODWELL, Okla. – Northwestern Oklahoma State volleyball finished victorious on their final match of the OPSU Aggie Challenge as they claimed third place overall defeating host team Panhandle State 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-18).

Individual Leaders
  • Asia Pipkin would lead the Rangers in kills in this match with 10 total and Natalie Fahey ended the match with seven and a .364 hitting percentage.  
  • Pipkin also saw success on the serving end as well as she finished with four total aces.
  • Kaydee Yukawa led Northwestern once again in assists with 22 total.
  • Korina Lillard totaled 11 digs to lead the black-and-red also.
     
Game Changer
  • Northwestern completed a 10-2 run midway through the first set which certainly set the overall tone of the match as the Rangers went on to sweep the Aggies, 3-0.
  • The Rangers after seeing themselves down 2-0 in set number three, went on a 6-0 run of their own which led them to the overall victory over Panhandle State.

News & Notes
  • After the 2-2 finish in the OPSU Aggie Challenge, the Rangers claimed third place overall in the event.
  • The Rangers finished with a team stat line of: 41 Kills / 8 Aces / 39 Assists / 43 Digs
 

Up Next
Northwestern Oklahoma State will head to Kearney, Neb. next as they compete in the New Victorian Inn & Suites/Runza Suites Fall Classic hosted by the University of Nebraska-Kearney. The Rangers first opponent of the two-day event will be the University of Sioux Falls on September 11 at 10:00 a.m.
