ALVA, Okla. – Northwestern Oklahoma State women's soccer hosted in-state rival Southwestern Oklahoma State University on Tuesday in a much-anticipated Great American Conference matchup. The Rangers offense went cold for the second straight contest as they were shutout 6-0 by the Bulldogs.
While the Rangers only recorded two shots in the first half, they were able to put solid pressure on the SWOSU defense. Northwestern had great chances on a pair of corner kicks by
Calvonis Prentice, but were unable to find the back of the net with the ensuing headers. Prentice led the Rangers with two shots on goal.
Southwestern managed 10 shots in the opening frame including four from Bulldog Alimata Rabo, but
Kylee Loustaunau stood tall until the dying seconds of the period. With just 13 seconds remaining, Rabo beat Loustaunau to the right side to give SWOSU a 1-0 lead heading into the break.
After the Rangers were able to keep the Bulldogs relatively quiet to start the game, Southwestern Oklahoma State turned it on in the second half, scoring five more unanswered goals. Southwestern's explosive offense was paced by a pair of forwards in Sandra Nabweteme and Alimata Rabo, who each netted three goals apiece in the game. The Bulldogs broke out for 24 shots, including 14 on goal to outshoot the Rangers by 19.
