Prentice's Header Lifts Rangers Over Ouachita Baptist in 2OT

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Northwestern Oklahoma State women's soccer came out on top of a must-win game at Ouachita Baptist, winning 1-0 in double overtime. Calvonis Prentice scored her fifth goal of the season 3:16 into the second overtime.

After a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Harding on Thursday, the Rangers made the trip southwest to Arkadelphia for a Saturday matinee against the Ouachita Baptist Tigers to wrap up their final road trip of the season.

The Tigers entered play in the midst of a four game slide, sitting in a tie for fifth place in the Great American Conference standings. In a crucial matchup with only one weekend to play, the Rangers knew what they had to do.

In a scoreless opening frame, the Rangers were led by sophomore Yazmin Gomez who paced all players with four shots in the half and six in the contest. Goalkeeper Kylee Wallace made eight saves in the victory, making her first start of the season.

The second half was hard fought but neither team was able to take advantage, and the first overtime period also didn't produce any offense. It wasn't until the second overtime that the Rangers would break the drought for their fifth win of 2017, keeping their postseason hopes alive.
