Season Opening Road Trip Ends with Loss at Northeastern State

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - Northwestern Oklahoma State Women's Soccer wrapped up their season opening road-swing with a 7-0 loss at the hands of the Northeastern State University Riverhawks Saturday evening. The Rangers were peppered with 26 shots (19 shots on goal) on a night where it seemed like nothing was going right.

Sophomore Hollie Pankake recorded one of her two shots on goal just three minutes into the match, forcing the NSU keeper to make a save. But offense was hard to come by for the Rangers as they could only muster five shots on frame all night.

The Riverhawks pressed early and often in this one, opening the scoring in the 12th minute off the foot of Becca Gleason. Northeastern had five different players find the back of the net, including a two-goal night from senior midfielder Jessie Lynch. An own goal by the Northwestern defense in the 37th minute made it 3-0 for NSU, and Northwestern found themselves trailing 4-0 heading into halftime against one of the MIAA's top squads.

Frustration appeared to set in for the Rangers as redshirt junior Kim Bell and sophomore Bailey Jarvis were both issued yellow cards in the game.

NSU continued their offensive pressure throughout the second half, adding three more goals including one in the final minute for a 7-0 final.
