Lady Rangers Nearly Pull Off Fourth Quarter Comeback on the Road

ALVA, Okla. – The Northwestern Oklahoma State women's basketball team narrowed a 12-point deficit with just over five minutes remaining down to just two points with 39 seconds remaining, but two free throws from Ouachita Baptist allowed them to pull out a 78-74 victory.

Junior Jade Jones hit two free throws to finish off a 15-5 run that the Lady Rangers put together in the final five minutes of the fourth quarter. However, Morgan Miller hit two free throws with five seconds remaining for the Lady Tigers and negated an impressive push by Northwestern in the closing stretches of the final quarter.

Jones had 10 of her 25 points for the contest in the final three minutes of the game as she went 8-for-15 for the contest. Junior Bailey Forell hit all three of her three-point attempts in route to nine points while freshman Selena McDonald totaled 10 rebounds and five points.

Ouachita Baptist used 26 free throw makes throughout the game to consistently keep the advantage on the Black-and-Red. The Lady Rangers kept the Lady Tigers from hitting any of their three-point attempts in the second half, but couldn't overcome the stellar performance from the charity stripe.

Northwestern shot 41.9 percent (26-of-62) for the game and collected a total of 31 rebounds. Freshman Hanah Peterson assisted with the scoring effort with eight points while Bailey Brown and Kinsey Neiderer both chipped in six.

Northwestern will continue their road trip on Saturday afternoon with a game against Henderson State scheduled for a 1 p.m. tip-off.
