Lady Rangers Drop Two on Day One with OBU

ALVA, Okla. - Northwestern Oklahoma State hosted Oklahoma Baptist, Thursday afternoon and the Lady Bisons were victorious in both games over the Lady Rangers, 8-4 and 4-2.

GAME 1
Northwestern had no problems getting on base in the first game of the day as five Northwestern batters collected multiple hits, led by Jordan Sutton who tore it up at the dish, going 3-for-4.

She was joined by Morgan Kirk (2-4), Madi Parrott (2-4), Madison McGraw (2-4) and Peyton Garrett (2-3) in the hit parade. Although the Lady Rangers outhit the visitors in the game, the runs just didn't come about unfortunately.

Madison Garza started off in the circle and went through the lineup without any issues, but the tide quickly started to turn in the third when Manning sent a shot over the left field wall for two runs, making it 2-0.

Northwestern did answer however in the bottom half of the inning where Kirk came through in the clutch, singling through the left side, plating Garrett on the play, cutting the deficit to one.

Once again though, the Lady Bison struck in the fourth, pushing their advantage to five on an RBI single and a three-run shot by Manning.

Northwestern was able to answer again, but it was only for one run, leaving them trailing by four runs.

OBU kept the pedal down in the very next inning, scoring two more, while the Rangers did the same, but the four runs would prove to be enough for Oklahoma Baptist to finish off game one.

GAME 2
After a stellar game at the plate in the first contest of the afternoon, the Lady Rangers struggled to get going offensively in the second, recording just three total hits in the game.

Karly Murray started in the circle for Northwestern and surrendered eight hits and just four runs, but her counterpart, Bailee Saye was dominant, keeping the potent Lady Ranger offense at bay.

Oklahoma Baptist started the scoring early, as an RBI single was earned by Flanagan, making it an early 1-0 advantage for the visitors.

OBU would take a more commanding lead in the top of the fifth, where another three-run shot to left center pushed the score to 4-0.

Northwestern did attempt a comeback in the sixth however, scoring two runs, but an empty seventh inning gave the visiting Lady Bison the sweep of day one, 4-2.
