GODDARD, Kan. - It was a tough night on the road for the Northwestern Oklahoma State women's soccer team as they were defeated 2-0 by the Newman University Jets in Kansas.
Northwestern managed just one shot in the contest as
Calvonis Prentice's attempt in the 29th minute was stopped by Newman goal keeper Jackie Lari.Â
The Jets opened the scoring in the 39th minute when Colleen Howland's shot from in close beat Ranger goalie
Kiara Fontanilla to make it 1-0. The Rangers kept the deficit at just one headed into the halftime break.
The Rangers kept fighting down the stretch, but a goal in the 84th minute by Vanessa Ortiz gave Newman a 2-0 advantage and the win.
Northwestern will have a week off before they return to the pitch at the Alva Recreation Complex for a showdown with rival Southwestern Oklahoma State on Tuesday, September 18. Kick-off is set for 6 p.m.
