Northwestern Oklahoma State University volleyball came up short to rival Southwestern Oklahoma State University (10-3, 3-0 GAC) in their first meeting together of the 2018 season, losing 0-3 [21-25,14-25,16-25].
Northwestern fell behind early in the first set to the Bulldogs as they went up 8-16. The Bulldogs held the Lady Rangers to a minimal .125 hitting percentage, but that would not stop the Lady Rangers as they mounted a comeback to get within two points. It did not fair the black-and-red, as Southwestern gets a set win 21-25.
In set number two the Lady Ranges could not get much going falling behind early 1-7. Northwestern posted 10 kills in the second set, but could not gain any momentum and had to play catch-up throughout the set. Southwestern ran away with the second set 14-25 and go up 2-0 in the match.
Lady Rangers gained their first lead of the night, going up 6-3 on the Bulldogs; however, the Bulldogs would not go away that easy. Making a strong comeback and gaining momentum, Southwestern took a hold of what would be the last lead change of the match and never looked back. As they took the last set, 16-25.
Senior Brooklynn Hesson had a team high nine kills and redshirt-junior Kiauna Clark followed up with eight kills of her own. Junior Jennifer Eubanks boasted four blocks, which would be the match-high on the night.
Northwestern Oklahoma State University look bounce back this Saturday, September 15 at 12 p.m., as they face the Tigers of East Central University back in Percefull Fieldhouse.
