Magnolia, Arkansas - Northwestern Oklahoma State University volleyball swept the Muleriders of Southern Arkansas University (6-12, 1-5 GAC) Friday night, as Northwestern gets back on track after a two-game losing skid.
In the first set the Muleriders came out the gate quickly going up on the Lady Rangers, 1-6. The Muleriders controlled the lead most of the set until a couple of kills from Kaydee Honeycutt and Brooklynn Hesson sparked a 4-0 run to bring them within two points.
A big block from juniors Kiauna Clark and Jennifer Eubanks would give Northwestern their first lead (23-22), and would guide them to a nail-biting win, 25-23
Going into the second set the black-and-red were down 2-4, but shot out to a 6-0 run, which would give them a lead they would control the rest of the way. The Muleriders would get within two points, but another Lady Ranger run would put them up 2-0 in the match, winning 25-21.
In what would be the last set of the match, Sophomore Kaitlyn Robinson would post 10 of her 34 assists and the team would post four service aces in the last set alone, as the Lady Rangers put the Muleriders away for good, winning 25-22. Â
Brooklynn Hesson would be Northwestern's top hitter of the night with 10 kills and senior Hannah Williams would pitch in eight of her own.
