Alva, Okla- Northwestern Oklahoma State soccer dropped their third straight game Saturday morning 2-0 to Harding University.
The Bison jumped out with a quick attack and controlled the early going of the game. However the Ranger's defense would not fold by executing well defensively on anything Harding had. Throughout the beginning stretches of the game both teams struggled to find any sort of rhythm by trading possession after possession.
Around the 32nd minute mark the Bison were able to get some control of the ball, which led into the 33:57 mark when Harding was able to capitalize on a rebounding opportunity and they took full advantage of to grab the first goal of the game to go up 1-0.
Northwestern had their scoring chances throughout the half finishing the first with 15 total shots including four corner kicks as well. Forced Harding to have 13 saved shots on goal.
The second half NWOSU started the half with a strong attack, but just could not find the back of the net. One shot hit the top of the crossbar. Rangers opened with three quick shots.
The Bison defense stopped everything that the Rangers threw at them. At the 63:07 mark Harding turned a Ranger attack into one of their own by setting themselves up for a goal on a deep clearing pass. This goal seemed to put the final touches on the game as the final would end 2-0.
Northwestern was not outplayed by much as they led the shot total 23-17 including 18-8 on goal shots. The Ranger attack was led by Kaley Whitworth who finished with six shots, five of them on goal.
The Rangers drop to 3-6-1 overall and 0-3-1 in conference play while Harding improves to 4-6-1 and 3-2 in conference play. Northwestern will take on Southern Nazarene who are 2-7-1 overall and 0-4 in conference play. The game will be played Thursday October 17 in Bethany Oklahoma.
