Northwestern to Take on Harding and Arkansas Tech

ALVA, Okla.– Northwestern Oklahoma State University Rangers plan to rebound after a weekend of facing tough opponents in Southwestern and Oklahoma Baptist. Sitting with a two-game losing streak the Red-and-Black will be striving to take another Great American Conference win against Harding University Thursday evening in Searcy, Ark. They will then head to Russelville, Ark. for a match-up against Arkansas Tech University Saturday afternoon. The Rangers enter the weekend with an overall record of 5-11, and a 2-8 mark in league play.
 
The Rangers are led by Head Coach Vinay Patel who is in his first season with Northwestern. The Black-and-Red offense continues to be led by Parrish Hewitt who averages 16 points per game .330 percentage from deep, with Jaedon Whitfield close behind at 12.5 points per game and leads the team with 111 total rebounds. A.J. Jones leads the Rangers with 76 total assists.
 
Harding University (Thursday Jan. 23rd at 7:30 p.m.)
 
Northwestern will head back to Arkansas for another GAC match-up with Harding University. The Bisons sit with an overall record of 6-10, with a 1-9 conference record. The Rangers hope to put pressure on the Bisons, as they have lost their last seven games. Southern Arkansas took the last match-up with Harding 72-59 whom the Red-and-Black defeated in a close game earlier this season.
 
This will be the 11th match-up overall between the two teams with the record sitting at a tied 5 wins for NWOSU and 5 wins for HU. Both teams have been evenly matched with a tied rcord of 3-3 in Percefull Fieldhouse as well as a tied 2-2 record in Searcy, Ark. as well. Northwestern was able to take the last match-up with the Bisons last season with a score of 64-57. Cole Jones led the team with 18 points, as he went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc with all his points stemming from threes. Bryshon Bryant had 15 points, two steals, and six rebounds while Jack Peck was close behind with 13 points, and six rebounds of his own.

Harding is led by long-time Head Coach Jeff Morgan who is in the middle of his 27th season. The Bisons offense is led by Romio Harvey who averages 21.9 points per game and has 16 steals and leads the team with 35 total assists. Other notable players include Joel Polius who averages 9.3 points per game and leads the team with 109 total rebounds and 22 blocks.

Arkansas Tech University (Saturday Jan. 25th at 3:00 p.m.)
 
To finish the weekend the Rangers will head to Russellville, Ark. to face-off against Arkansas Tech University at 3:00 p.m. The Wonder Boys have a 10-6 overall record, with a 6-4 mark in league play. They are riding a two-game winning streak as they took their last win in an offensive battle against Henderson State with a close, yet high score of 126-122.

The Wonder Boys lead the head-to-head match-up with 6 wins while the Rangers only have two. As the two teams head into only their ninth match-up overall the Rangers will be returning with a bitter taste in their mouth after the last game. Arkansas Tech took the last match-up with a one-point differential 79-78. Peck earned a career high 27 points against the Wonder Boys with three from deep, while Bryant tallied 13 points of his own and four rebounds. A.J. Jones and Eric Andres Jr. both tallied 9 points of their own.
 
Arkansas Tech is led by Head Coach Chad Kline who is the middle of his sixth season at the University. The Wonder Boys offense is led by R.J. Glasper who averages 18.3 points per game as well as leading the team with 106 total assists. Dillon Gooding and Devante Foster both average around 12 points each, while Foster leads the team with 107 total rebounds.
