Northwestern Headed to Arkadelphia for Final Road Games

ALVA, Okla.– Northwestern Oklahoma State University Rangers had a tough weekend after facing rival Southwestern Oklahoma State and top-ranked Southeastern Oklahoma State. The Rangers lost a close one to SWOSU after a buzzer-beating three-point shot and took a 73-91 loss to SOSU. The Red-and-Black are headed for Arkadelphia, Ark., to take on Ouachita Baptist University and Henderson State University. The Rangers enter the weekend with an overall record of 8-16, and a 5-13 mark in league play.
 
The Rangers are led by Head Coach Vinay Patel who is in his first season with Northwestern. The Black-and-Red offense continues to be led by Parrish Hewitt who averages 15.5 points per game .322 percentage from deep, with Jaedon Whitfield close behind at 13.8 points per game and leads the team with 154 total rebounds. A.J. Jones leads the Rangers with 99 total assists.
 
Ouachita Baptist University (Thursday, Feb. 20th at 7:30 p.m.)
 
Northwestern takes on Ouachita Baptist for their second match-up of the year. The Tigers sit with an overall record of 10-13, with a Great American Conference mark of 7-11. Ouachita Baptist is on a two-game losing streak with one from inner-city rival Henderson State 72-82nd the second from Southern Arkansas with a score of 52-82.
 
This will be the 13th match-up overall between the two teams with Ouachita earning eight wins to Northwestern's four which includes their last match-up where the Rangers won 83-77. Hewitt led the team with 25 points with six threes, while Whitfield added 17 points of his own. The Red-and-Black hope to make history as Northwestern has never recorded a win at Ouachita's home court.

Ouachita Baptist is led by Head Coach Dennis Nutt who is in the middle of his 9th season. The Tigers offense is led by Raymond Harris who averages 12 points per game with a .431 shooting percentage. Other notable players include Allie Freeman who averages 11.1 points per game and Kendarious Smith who averages 9.8 points per game with a team-high 101 total rebounds.

Henderson State University (Saturday, Feb. 22nd at 3:00 p.m.)
 
To finish the weekend the Rangers will cross the highway to face-off against Henderson State University at 3:00 p.m. The Reddies have a 17-7 overall record, with a 12-6 mark in league play. They are riding a two-game win streak with the aforementioned win against Ouachita Baptist as well as a win against Harding 88-79.


The Reddies lead the head-to-head match-up with seven wins while the Rangers only have five. As the two teams head into only their 13th match-up overall the Rangers plan to take advantage of their good defensive numbers to shut down the Henderson State offense that helped them win the last match-up 84-69. Offensively, Whitfield grabbed 17 points and nine boards while Clive Allen added 15 of his own and went 8-10 from the free-throw line.
 
Henderson State is led by Head Coach Jimmy Elgas who is the middle of his fifth season at the University. The Reddies offense is very spread out with multiple players averaging double digits. They are led by Chris Parker with 14.7 points per game as well as leading the team with 78 assists. Raekwon Rogers, Rel Johnson, and Anthony Lupardus all average 12.2, 11.7, and 10.2 points respectively.
