Lady Rangers Unable to Catch up in Ada

ADA, Okla. – The Lady Rangers fell to the Tigers inside the Kerr Activities Center this afternoon, 58-48. 
 
Bailey Brown led the Lady Rangers with a double-double, she finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Brown racked up two steals, two assists and a block. She finished shooting 7-of-8 from the free-throw line and 4-of-13 from field goal range. 
 
Mya Johnson scored eight points and snagged nine rebounds. Johnson blocked two opponents and stole the ball twice from the Tigers. 
 
Scout Frame finished with five points, eight rebounds and three steals. 
 
Kes Reeves posted five points and three rebounds.

FIRST QUARTER
Brown immediately stole the ball from East Central's Ella Schultz but then turned it over to Madison Rehl who scored first for the Tigers. Rehl then fouled Brown on the other end and Brown put in both her free throws to put the Lady Rangers on the board. Lizzie Shephard scored the second basket for the-Red-and-Black with under five minutes to go in the first quarter. Quick scores from Reeves and Kaylee Jo Neeley left NWOSU trailing by only two at the end of the quarter. (ECU 10-8)
 
SECOND QUARTER
Alexis Lyons of the Tigers fired first in the second quarter after she rolled in a layup from underneath. East Central's Kendall Schulte rattled in back-to-back scores from inside and Mackenzie Crusoe drained a three-pointer to keep the Tigers ahead 19-8, four minutes into the quarter. S. Frame, Hayley Stiger and Jarah Whitfield tossed in three quick scores to cut into ECU's lead until Charlea Leonard immediately fired in a jumper and a deep three-pointer. The Lady Rangers went into the locker room at halftime trailing by 10. (ECU 27-17)
 
THIRD QUARTER
10 seconds into the start of the second half Tigers' player Schulte hit a three-pointer. After two minutes of play, free throws and a three-point play kept the Tigers lead strong, 35-17. Reeves swished a three-pointer that was assisted by Brown and Neeley pulled up from inside to rattle in a quick score with five minutes left in the third quarter. Hard work from underneath by Brown and Johnson racked up points for the Lady Rangers, but the Tigers kept their lead throughout the end of the period, 47-30. (ECU 47-30) 
 
FOURTH QUARTER
Josena Frame got on the board after pulling up for two quick points, followed by an inside score from Johnson and a three-point play from Brown. With under five left to play, Johnson tossed in back-to-back layups and Brown drilled two free throws to keep the Tigers lead to only nine points. Unfortunately, the Lady Rangers were unable to catch up during the final stretch of the game. East Central won 58-48.

The Red-and-Black move to 3-3 overall and 1-3 in the Great American Conference.
