Rangers Travel to Durant looking to Snap Three Game Losing Streak

ALVA, Okla.- Ranger basketball is back in action Saturday at 5 PM as the Red-and-Black travel to Durant, Okla. for a conference matchup against Southeastern Oklahoma State. Northwestern is coming off a heartbreaking loss against ECU in the final seconds.

Northwestern Oklahoma State comes into this game leading the Great American Conference in rebounding, blocked shots, and best defense against the three holding opponents to only 26% per game. Southeastern takes good care of the basketball leading the conference in assist to turnover ratio with 1.2 per game. 

"We are excited to get another opportunity to compete and get better!  We took a major step defensively in our last game, and are continuing to improve on the offensive end.  We are looking for more consistency from several guys as we go on the road to face a very talented Southeastern team.  Coach Green does a phenomenal job and his group is coming off of a big win on Thursday.  We definitely will have our hands full defensively with their style of play" state head coach Vinay Patel.

Patel continues his second season at the helm, with a 12-21 record as the Rangers coach and an overall 100-77 collegiate record. 

The Red-and-Black enter this game 2-3 on the season, and 0-3 in conference play, looking for the first conference victory of the season against the Savage Storm. 

Bubba Furlong is now averaging a double-double after his 13 point game Thursday. He averages 10 points per game along with 11.6 rebounds. The 11.6 rebounds are the best in the conference to date, along with his 14 blocks for 2.8 per game. Parrish Hewitt leads the Rangers with 13.8 points per game on 40.7% from the field. Hewitt also leads the GAC in free throw percentage at 92.9%. The third double-digit scorer for the Rangers is Deon Barrett at 12.8 points a night. Barrett's 25 assists lead NWOSU with five assists, good for third in the league. 

Southeastern Oklahoma State University: 

The Savage Storm will enter this game at 3-5 on the season and in conference play. Southeastern will come into this game coming off of a 62-54 victory over Southern Nazarene ending the Savage Storm's two-game losing streak before that. They enter the afternoon sitting in fifth place in the Western Division of the Great American Conference.

Southeastern, led by Head Coach Kelly Green, is in the midst of his 10th season in Durant with a 139-129 record, 101-93 in conference play. 

Adam Dworsky enters the afternoon leading the Savage Storm in scoring as one of four of their players who average double figures. Dworsky scorers 21.1 points per game for third in the conference. Kellen Manek is second with 14 points per game, followed by Bobby Johnson and Vadim Clanet at 12.9 and 12.4, respectively. Clanet leads them in rebounding with 43 rebounds for 6.1, which is slightly above Dworsky at 42 rebounds. Southeastern's assists leader is Dworsky at 6.7 per game. 

History: 

The Rangers will enter this game on a four-game losing streak against the Savage Storm as Northwestern looks to end this streak Saturday. The last game was a 91-73 Southeastern victory, where Hewitt had 12 points seven rebounds in the game. The last time the Red-and-Black came out victorious against Southeastern came back in February of 2018. Rangers, however, lead the overall series history with a record of 23-20.
