Durant, Okla - Northwestern Football was back on the road as they traveled to Durant, Okla. to play against the Savage Storm of Southeastern Oklahoma State University. The Savage Storm took advantage of a solid first quarter by scoring 16 points, resulting in the Rangers dropping the game 43-10.
The Rangers drop to 0-7 as the Savage Storm improves 6-1.
Rangers quarterback Tanner Clarkson threw for 92 yards and had one rushing touchdown. Clarkson and Calion Baker tied with leading the Rangers with 38 rushing yards. Gavin Garner led with three receptions throughout the game, gaining 21 yards. Devond Blair, Jr had two receptions for 23 yards.Â
James Ellis led the Rangers' defense with 11 tackles, three tackles being solo. Braxton Kearns with a total of 10 tackles, six being solo. Terry Atta-Peters received his first interception of the season in the third minute of play in the first quarter.
Southeastern led the Rangers 16-0 in the first quarter of the game. Daniel Jamison kickoff for 38 yards to the Southeastern's 42-yard line, Cody Norris for a three-yard loss resulting in a fumble. Baker would be stopped for a 2-yard loss resulting in a Savage Storm safety, putting them on the board first 2-0.
The Savage Storm would get their first touchdown in the 12th minute of play with an 11-yard pass complete for a touchdown giving the Storm a 9-0 lead with three minutes left in the first quarter.Â
The Savage Storm's next touchdown came when Clarkson was sacked with a loss of nine yards for a fumble picked up by Southeastern, resulting in their second touchdown, leading 16-0.Â
The Rangers field goal attempt by Connor O'Neal was good for three points, getting the Rangers on the board in the first nine seconds in the second quarter.Â
Southeastern would score a touchdown in the second quarter in the 14th minute of play with six seconds left. It was a five-yard pass complete intended for Duce Pittman. The Savage Storm would attempt to go for the two-point conversion but would not be a successful try.
The Savage Storm would lead the Rangers 22-3 going into halftime.Â
Southeastern's third touchdown came from a 35-yard pass complete to Marquis Gray with five minutes left in the third quarter, making the score 29-3.
The Rangers would score their first touchdown from Clarkson, rushing for one yard to score. The extra point kick from O'Neal was good to make the score 36-10.Â
The Savage Storm would get their last touchdown from a one-yard rushing gain from Ryan Taylor in the previous 25 seconds of the quarter.
The Savage Storm would win the game 43-10 over the Rangers.Â
The Rangers will return home on Oct. 23rd to play against the Crimson Storm of Southern Nazarene. The kickoff will be at 2 PM.
