Rangers Win Over Crimson Storm

Bethany, Okla- The Rangers traveled to Bethany, OK, to play against the Crimson Storm of Southern Nazarene in a Great American Conference matchup. The Rangers beat the Storm 3-2 on Saturday afternoon. The Rangers jumped ahead early in the second minute of play to score the game's first goal and would never trail.  

The Rangers improve 8-3-1 on the season (3-2-1 in GAC), and the Crimson Storm drop 1-11 on the season (0-6 in GAC). The Rangers outshot the Crimson Storm 24-16, with 15 shots being on goal. The eight-win is the most Northwestern has had since joining Division II.   

The Rangers had a variety of players shooting on target. Isabella Mcmillan led the Rangers by having five shots, four being on target. Carlie Massingale, Campbell, and Abby McLaughlin with three shots each.   

Lily Anderson scores her first collegiate goal in the second minute of the game. Tiara Campbell scores her first goal in the fourth minute of play, and Abby McLaughlin scores her first collegiate goal and the game-winning goal in the 63rd minute assisted by Abby Nunez.  

Southern Nazarene player Kierra Wright scored in the 44th minute of the first half to get on the board.  

The Rangers led the Crimson Storm 2-1 going into halftime.   

The second half of the game was controlled by the Rangers. The Red-and-Black outshot the Storm 13-9, with only being faced with seven shots on target. McLaughlin scored in the 63rd minute by shooting the ball low and center, striking the back of the net.   

The Crimson Storm would get their second goal of the match with eight seconds left in the game. Delaney Stewart dribbled past Reagan Allen and scored in the bottom left corner of the goal.  

"Certainly not our best performance today, but I think that it's a testament to our players that we were still able to get the win. We definitely have a lot of learning and growing to do, but we are looking forward to attacking the second half of conference play starting on Tuesday," said Coach Alex Piekarski.   

The Rangers will be back on the road on Oct. 19th as they travel to Weatherford, Okla., to play against the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State University. The kick-off will begin at 3 PM.
