Rangers Fall in Conference Battle 3-2 Tuesday

Weatherford, Okla- The Rangers traveled to Weatherford, Oklahoma, to play against the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State University. The Bulldogs pulled off a win Tuesday afternoon 3-2. The Bulldogs scored in the first 20 seconds of the game to get on the board first and carry the momentum to the match win.   

The Rangers dropped to 8-4-1 (3-3-1 in GAC) as the Bulldogs improved 7-5-1 (5-1-1 in GAC). The Bulldogs outshot the Rangers 13-6. Southwestern had eight shots on target, while the Rangers had three shots on target.   

Isabella Mcmillan led the Rangers with two shots throughout the game, one resulting in a goal with an assist from Cynthia Armas. Tiara Campbell had the other goal in the game with an assist from Abby Nunez. Kailani Kealoha and Carlie Massingale both had one shot on target.  

The Bulldogs opened up the game with a goal from Claire Torry in the first 20 seconds of the game. Mcmillan answered back in the fourth minute by tapping the ball past the Bulldogs goalkeeper and into the back of the net.   

Around the 13th minute mark, Claire took her chance by shooting the ball with the wind and breaking through the gloves of Reagan Allen, scoring the Bulldogs' second goal.   

Campbell struck back two minutes later from receiving the ball from Nunez, turning, and passing the ball into the lower-left corner of the net, tying the game 2-2. Brianna Benitez scored the game-winning goal in the 21st minute by sneaking the ball past Allen and into the bottom right corner of the goal.  

The Bulldogs led the Rangers 3-2 going into halftime.   

The second had stayed at a steady pace as both teams were fighting the wind. The second had resulted into being a scoreless half, leading the Bulldogs to the victory.  

The Rangers will continue their road trip as they travel to Ada, Oklahoma, on Oct. 23rd to play against the Tigers of East Central University. The Tigers are currently 2-8-1 (1-5-1 in GAC). The kick-off for the match will begin at noon.
