Ada, Okla - The Northwestern Women's Soccer team traveled to Ada, Oklahoma to play against the Tigers of East Central University on Saturday afternoon. Two goals from
Tiara Campbell leads to a strong win over the Tigers. The Rangers took advantage of the first half leading East Central 1-0 going into halftime.
The Rangers improve on their season 9-4-1 (4-3-1 in GAC) as the Tigers drop to 2-10-1 (1-7-1 in GAC). The Rangers outshot the Tigers 18-15 with nine shots being on target.
Isabella Mcmillan and Campbell were leading the Rangers with six shots in the game.
Callie Haneborg,
Reilly Marks, and
Lily Anderson all had two shots throughout the game.
The Rangers got on the board first with a goal from Campbell. After the ball was bouncing around in the Tigers 6-yard box, Campbell was the first player to the ball and shot the ball in the lower right corner of the net. The Rangers were leading the Tigers 1-0 in the 33
rd minute of play.
The Rangers outshot the Tigers in the first half 10-8 with four shots being on target. The Rangers were leading 1-0 going into the break.
The second half started with the ball being passed around the Ranger defense, keeping the ball away from the Tigers. Campbell scored her second goal in the game which was assisted by
Cynthia Armas in the 60
th minute of play. Armas wins the ball centrally and passes the ball to Campbell. Campbell puts enough on the ball to beat the Tigers goalkeeper resulting in her second goal.
Reagan Allen received her third shutout of the season while being faced with 18 shots, nine being on target.
"AÂ great road win today. We took our chances when we had them and had a strong defensive performance. Again especially proud of the team for growing as the game went along and we had a very strong second half to finish the game" said head coach
Alex Piekarski.
The Rangers return home for back-to-back home games on Oct. 28
th and 30
th to play against the Bisons of Harding University and the Tigers of Ouachita Baptist. The Game on the 28
th will have a 6 PM kick-off Thursday evening.
