Searcy, Ark- The Rangers traveled to Searcy, Arkansas for their first conference away game of the season to play against the Bisons of Harding University. The Rangers fell to the Bisons Thursday evening 5-2. Harding took advantage of a strong opening half where they would capitalize on four first half goals.

The Rangers drop to 6-2-1 (1-1-1 GAC) on the season as the Bisons improve to 4-6-0 (2-2-0 GAC). The Bisons out shot the Rangers 17-9 having nine on target shots compared to the Rangers having four on goal.

The Rangers had a slow start in the first half with only getting one shot off. Going into halftime down 4-0.

The Bisons came out strong in the first half with a goal by Emma Roberts in the first four minutes of play. Roberts scored her second goal of the match in the 12th minute of the game, and her third goal on a penalty kick in the 38th minute to complete the hat trick. Bisons Carmen Gunn scored in the 12th minute of play on multiple rebound opportunities in front of a crowded goal.

Abby Nunez led the Rangers with three shots, with one of the shots resulting in a goal. Tiara Campbell had two shots on goal and Reilly Marks had one. Freshman Briley Pennington scored her first collegiate goal with 21 seconds left in the second half.

The Nunez goal came in the 57th minute of the match on a scoring chance that saw two shots taken by the Rangers senior with one saved followed by a team block as Nunez would capitalize on the rebound opportunity for the goal.

Briley-Anne Brown would answer back for the Bisons giving them their lone goal of the half in the final minute of the game. Briley Pennington, for the Rangers, responded just seconds later with her first collegiate goal and the second Rangers goal of the half. Bringing the final score to 5-2 in favor of Harding.

The Rangers are back in action as they travel on Saturday, Oct. 9th to Arkadelphia, AR at 12 PM as they play against the Tigers of Ouachita Baptist. The Tigers are currently 3-1-0 on the season in conference play.
